IP-TV opens up new possibilities for fixed networks and cable TV networks carriers as well as for the users.

IP-TV makes it possible for the carriers to

IP-TV provides the users with
- a new quality view provided by the digital TV, a sharp, bright and saturated image independent of the weather, cable length and TV settings;
- simplicity, there is no need to set a lot of TV channels, all channels are already preset in the hardware. IP-TV is provided to the user via a standard telephone line, which means you do not need to lay cables and install various antennas. IP-TV viewing has no effect on the common telephone communications i.e. the telephone will not be busy while watching your favorite programs;
- additional services. IP-TV operator"s platform usually stores dozens of movies of various styles comprising new foreign movies, well-known Soviet movies and animation for children. You can order and repeatedly watch the selected content (the list of available movies is being constantly updated). You can also record a program of your interest and watch it later or, on the contrary, play back the previously shown programs.

IP-TV is television over communications network. Provider usually receives the signal, e.g. from the satellite, and transmits it over the special protocol (UDP, MMS, RTSPM, etc.) to the end users who can watch the video both on PC display and TV set.
IP-TV is digital broadcast opening up new possibilities of a usual TV set to the user. In addition to the watching of broadcasted shows and programs every user becomes an active participant and can create a real entertainment center.

To watch IP-TV channels on a standard (analog) TV set there is needed a special Set-Top Box (STB) decoding video data and displaying the decrypted video on the TV screen. PTS, a company fully owned by SVIAZINFORMSERVICE LLC, produces several modifications of the STBs.
